The Light House on Norton Avenue
Not long after settling into our new sanctuary, Pastor Evans dreamed of doing more or the community, and that was the start of our slogan, “Greater Works”.
In December 2020, Reverend James G. Evans III envisioned developing affordable housing for senior citizens in Bristol Township. The facility would be known as the Lighthouse on Norton Avenue. In March 2021, the proposal to build the senior living facility was denied multiple times. By God’s grace, in June 2022, the proposal was resubmitted and approved by the Bristol Township Zoning Hearing Board. In November 2023, the project received full approval from the Bristol Township Council. The Lighthouse on Norton Avenue will be comprised of 51 one and two-bedroom apartments. The facility will also have a community room, arts and crafts area, fitness room, medical suite, rooftop deck, resident services, and maintenance offices.
In September 2024, demolition began on the church property to allow for the foundation of the new facility. Also, with the facility’s approval, Norton Avenue First Baptist Church paid off all Church mortgages and other debt, and we are now debt-free. On 9/21/2025, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing of the new facility took place. This milestone marks an exciting chapter for the community and church.
“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end – it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it, it will surely come and not delay” Habakkuk 2:3
The Lord continues to provide us with all we need for Greater Works. With God, all things are possible, and again we say “Thank you, Lord!
